Echuca Heritage Steam Festival
Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 October 2011
Experience the fun of a bygone era!
The two day spring festival offers free entertainment for the whole family, enabling people of all ages to experience the way things were when Echuca was Australia's largest inland port, and to celebrate the district's colourful history.
Steam engines will chug and whistle, hooves clop as trotting horses tow their carriages around the precinct, vintage cars will toot their horns and tractors from days gone by will stand resplendent.
Children will have a chance to learn how their counterparts filled in time before the advent of television and computer games, with an invitation to join in old-time games.
People with an eye for crafts from yesteryear will be impressed by demonstrations of blacksmithing, woodturning and wool spinning.
Sunday (between 2.00-2.30pm) will feature a Sailpast as the riverboat parade proudly along the river, best viewing point will be from Riverboat Dock.
